Lydia Mitchell has been with the Missouri Vocational Rehabilitation in the St. Louis, MO area since 2000. She currently serves as a District Supervisor. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring compliance with VR policies, procedures and regulations, in addition to monitoring the quality of the overall VR services. Lydia’s wealth of experience allows her to provide objective guidance and counseling services to people with disabilities. She also serves as board member on the St. Louis County Workforce Investment Board and is currently a candidate for the Missouri State Rehabilitation Council.
Prior to her current position, Lydia worked as an Assistant District Supervisor and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor within the same organization. She has received several awards throughout her career for her dedication to the field. In September 2016, she received the State of Missouri Employee of Month Award. In July 2016, she received Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Employee of the Month Award.
She holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University and a M.S. degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
