No matter who you are, having the right life skills is essential in taking care of ourselves. At Delta Center, it is our mission to increase personal freedom and independence for people with disabilities. This includes providing skills training.
Why offer skills training?
Having a disability doesn’t mean you can’t do things for yourself. Skills training is being taught how to do things like manage finances and other everyday living skills like:
- Personal care
- Household maintenance like cleaning and organizing
- Clothing care
Learning these essential skills is essential in understanding and overcoming challenges you may face living with a disability in order to live more independently.
Skill training offered
At Delta Center, we offer a wide range of skill training, including, but not limited to:
- Becoming better with managing your finances
- Planning a menu for healthy eating on a budget
- Finding the best organizational method for your needs
- Develop a budget
We offer those skills, as well as many other disability-specific skills necessary to help you live as independently as possible. Staff will help you prioritize and create a plan to address your needs. We can even teach you the skills to become an effective self-advocate.
Staff are available to support your efforts to simplify and improve your quality of life. If needed, Delta Center also provides consumer-directed services (CDS) so you can direct your care and get any help you may need in your daily life.
